A Return to Passion

What happens when we struggle with the passions that first lifted us off the ground? Do we hang up the dream of fulfilling those passions or do we try to change the path with which we walk towards those passions. For the past few months, I’ve struggled with continuing down the path towards my passions or giving them up for something different, something more practical. And I must admit, for quite some time the practical captured me and led me down a path I thought was more for me. But that path, did nothing but lead me astray. During that time, I accomplished absolutely nothing, I was not challenged nor fraught with a desire to grow; I simply sat stagnant and refused to move towards anything. Yet, life is such a gift, for life gave me the wake up call that I needed in order to push past the mundane, the zone of comfort that I had saddled myself immovable. I woke with a jolt so powerful, I immediately began the preparations for creating a life changing event. I knew in that moment that I could no longer afford to sit by and allow my passions to grow dusty till death eventually marched by and took a tight hold of them. In that jolt, I remembered that not only do I have living to do, but that there is living that I must give to others. I remembered that there is world that is in dire need of what I have to give, which might not be much, but something is always better than nothing. I lifted the veil of indifference and made the decision that it was time to rewrite the headers of my life. No longer would I bend to the will of others and take a back seat in life. My time was now, is now. And peddling forward was going to require a courage I thought was lost.

In the clarity of today’s new outlook, I can see for miles and for once in a very long time, the passions of my past have all lined up to greet me and welcome me back. And just like that I find myself back in the precipice of this passionate life determined more than ever to see that the life that I intend for myself becomes the reality I dream about.

21 Day Productivity Challenge: Day 2

Now that you’ve defined your purpose; your why. It’s time to solidify that purpose and write it down. Write down your purpose but then go one step further, and here is the challenge, create three goals that are aligned with your purpose. These goals will be the motivation that will spring you forward into action. Now don’t just write down anything, these goals must be sustainable. I utilize a very simply formula when I create my goals called SMART, which stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Reasonable, and Time bound. This formula has helped me tremendously transform my goals into action and it can do the same for you.

So, there’s the challenge for today, come back tomorrow for the next challenge.

21 Day Productivity Challenge

21 day challenge

Today begins my 21 days to productivity challenge. I wanted to do this challenge to not only increase my productivity but to also see where I was getting hung up in regards to productivity. So for the next 21 days I will post a challenge to complete that will help in the attainment of a higher level of productivity. I hope you will join me in this challenge. Even if you are already highly productive, it does not hurt to revisit and get a gentle reminder of all the task driven actions you need to take to get and stay productive.

Ok, here we go.

Today’s challenge: Define your purpose; your passion; your ultimate why.

This might seem like a simply task, but it can be a heavy task to complete. It will be important to dig deep on this one because your purpose, your passion, your why; that is the reason we wake up in the morning and should be the reason behind everything that we do. So pull out a pen or pencil or Evernote or Notes on your phone and figure out what defines the life you desire to live.

See you tomorrow for the next challenge.

Passionate Living at 42

This week is my birthday week and I have no idea how I will celebrate it. I didn’t think about, just didn’t realize that it was coming. I’ve been so head down in work and my business that it didn’t occur to me that I should be celebrating. Not that 42 is some big accomplishment for most people but for me it is the greatest gift I could have received, as is every birthday that I celebrate. But I feel as if this particular birthday in this particular year is a bit more special. It is the realization of where my life is now, remembering where I’ve been, and the anticipation of where this life is taking me. I realize that it is our obligation, our duty to live a life well-lived; a life with passion and purpose and if we do not know what that passion or purpose is, we also have the responsibility to search it out. For so many birthdays I lived life on the edge of spontaneity, nothing was concrete, nothing certain. I lived in an unknown void. But luckily I grew out of that void and discovered the passion and purpose that has brought me to today, to this particular birthday, where everything I am, everything I’ve built up until now is something very special. I celebrate my successes in my business, why can I not celebrate the life that is me. So, what will I do this birthday? Well, I’ve decided, whatever I want to do as long as it’s a celebration!

New Adventures, New Business

Finding my passion was something that eluded me for so long. I was never sure which direction to go and what I really wanted out of life. Then one day I took a long hard look at the path I was on and decided that it just was not for me and something needed to change. I changed, I experimented with a number of different paths thinking these were the right paths for me. I went back to school to obtain a Master’s degree but after finally deciding on a program, I knew it was not for me. Then I read the book that literally put me on the path that I am on now. #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso. The book not only inspired me to want to start my own business but put me on the path that I was sure I was meant to walk down. If you haven’t read this book, it is a must for anyone wanting to live a passion filled life. I took so much from it that I immediately started devouring all types of content on starting my own business. Now this was not the first time that I had attempted to start my own business. My first adventure into business ownership was in my early twenties, but then I did not have the wherewithal to work hard and strive for business success because everyone and everything around me said that that was not how it was done. I gave it up. But that early passion for having my own business never went away and followed me all the way to now where I not only find myself with one business but now two. The decision to start a new business adventure was one driven by a need and desire to live my ideal life on my own terms. I wanted a life of my own choosing. I manifested the courage to put myself out on a new adventure fraught with uncertainty because the opportunity to help others resonates very strongly with me and brings me joy like I’ve never known. I made the decision, came up with a name, and built a website. And love girl pink media was born. My main goal for this business is to empower women, give them the necessary inspiration and tools they need to live a passion filled life of their own choosing. Sure, there are a million coaches out there for business, career and personal development; how does my business stand out from the rest? It stands out because I have my own unique techniques for empowering women, my individual knowledge and experiences of the past forty-one years gives me an edge and an advantage. Do I purport to having all the answers? Absolutely not, but I guarantee that I will find the answer if you ask. Nevertheless, I took the leap of faith because it fills me with nothing but satisfaction to help another. As I continue to grow both of my businesses, I know that determination is my cornerstone to this passionate life.

My Passionate Life

This is me…

…and this is my passionate life.

What does it mean to have a passionate life, to live the life of your dreams? What it means is peace of mind. It means a contentment you cannot find anywhere else except from where it radiates from deep inside of you. Does it mean the perfect day or the perfect job? Not necessarily, because even the most successful people in the world have a bad day every one in a while. It is what you decide to do with that day that makes all the difference in whether you are living passionately or not. I've learned it is all about the mindset; what you choose to think about your life from day to day. When I first started Pend Publishing I had nothing but doubts, but I knew it was the path that I wanted to walk down and I had to make that passion my purpose if I wanted to live the remarkable life I had always dreamed of. So I launched it, before anything was concrete, I had a name and a website, the only thing I didn't have were clients. So I knew I needed to hustle, where do I find these clients, are they on Facebook, on Twitter, Instagram? I did ads and marketed the business the best I could, but I was flopping still. Then I reached out to a marketing company to help me market this flailing business and came to realize that I had no clue who my ideal client was. Who were they, who was the man or woman who would need my services. And I literally had no clue. So I took a step back, reexamined the business I was trying to build, and began building instead the perfect client. Who were they, were they smart? Were they ambitious? Where did they live? What were their hobbies? Etc. And only after that did my business begin to make sense to me again. Then did the hustle feel right. And the passion returned, my purpose became clear and I started living the life I knew I was capable of living. This is me, living a passionate life.
